The requirement in context

Define the requirement before selecting the work.

Start with a defined information set, its business owner and actual collaboration needs. Avoid applying blanket restrictions without understanding the effect on legitimate work.

What you take away

Evidence.
Ownership.
A practical next step.

Review access, sharing and information-protection decisions around the business information you need to protect.

Colleagues discussing work together around a laptop.
Make access, sharing and ownership visible.
  • Agreed information locations and tenant scope
  • Sharing and access observations
  • Protection and retention requirements discussion
  • Prioritised recommendations with licence dependencies

How the work moves forward

Assess first. Change with control.

Responsibilities and access are agreed before the engagement. Work stays connected to the outcome—not the number of documents produced.

  1. Confirm the boundary

Agree systems, permissions, dependencies and exclusions.

  2. Assess the evidence

Record observed settings and prioritise the agreed risks.

  3. Control the change

Approve remediation, test the result and keep a handover record.

Before you commission the work

Your questions.
Clear answers.

Who needs the information—and who should not have it?

Start with a defined information set, its business owner and actual collaboration needs. Avoid applying blanket restrictions without understanding the effect on legitimate work.

What is included in the engagement?

Agreed information locations and tenant scope; Sharing and access observations; Protection and retention requirements discussion; Prioritised recommendations with licence dependencies. The proposal defines the exact outputs and acceptance criteria.

What is not automatically included?

This is technical data-protection support, not a blanket UK data-protection compliance opinion. Legal decisions, licences, migration and configuration changes are separately agreed.

What does the service cost?

UK service fees are quoted for the agreed scope. We confirm a quote after reviewing the agreed boundary, starting position, dependencies and required deliverables.

How should we share evidence?

Agree secure access, minimisation and retention before work starts. Describe the requirement in the enquiry; do not send passwords or sensitive records through the form.

Do we need more Microsoft licences before improving data protection?

First understand the information, access paths and required controls. Some changes may use existing capabilities; others depend on licensing or architecture. Confirm the tenant’s entitlements before promising Purview, DLP, labelling or retention features.

How can sharing changes avoid disrupting the business?

Identify legitimate collaboration needs, owners and existing external access. Test the proposed restrictions with an agreed group, record approvals and exceptions, and verify the result. Removing all sharing without a business plan can simply move the risk elsewhere.

What should we prepare for a scoping conversation?

Describe the organisation, product or service, customer requirement, systems and preferred timing. Do not send passwords or confidential records through the enquiry form. We agree secure evidence handling separately.
